Background

Africa’s health systems are at a critical inflection point, where bold, collaborative, and innovative leadership is required to meet the growing demands of a changing population. The Ghanaian- Diaspora Nursing Alliance (G-DNA) is committed to mobilizing the collective power of African- descent healthcare professionals, including nurses, midwives, physicians, and allied health professionals across the globe, to drive sustainable improvements in health outcomes on the continent.

While nurses and midwives represent the largest segment of the healthcare workforce—and often serve as the backbone of healthcare delivery—we recognize that lasting transformation requires a multidisciplinary approach. Therefore, the 2026 G-DNA Annual Conference welcomes participation from physicians, pharmacists, public health experts, researchers, policymakers, and other healthcare leaders committed to shaping the future of African healthcare through interdisciplinary collaboration and workforce development.

Under the theme “Voices of Change Shaping the Future of African Healthcare,” this conference will elevate the contributions of the entire healthcare workforce while centering the voices and leadership of nurses and midwives as vital catalysts for systemic change. We anticipate bringing together more than 500 healthcare professionals, policymakers, researchers, and community leaders from across Africa and beyond for the 2026 conference, creating an unprecedented opportunity for collaboration and innovation.

Conference Objectives

  • To amplify the leadership and impact of healthcare professionals, including nurses, midwives, physicians, and allied health professionals, in transforming healthcare systems in Africa.
  • To foster interdisciplinary collaboration among diaspora and African healthcare professionals.
  • To promote culturally responsive, evidence-based strategies for addressing Africa’s most pressing challenges.
  • To create a dynamic platform for global knowledge exchange, mentorship, and innovation.
  • To catalyze partnerships that support capacity-building, ethical workforce development, and sustainable healthcare reform.
